📦 You will receive a 9x9x6 box filled with mixed sizes and colors of rough Arizona sandstone.

📐 Pieces measure up to 8" in length, with thickness ranging from 3" down to 1/4". A bag of rubble (pieces under 2") is also included.

🚿 Pieces have been washed but NOT sanitized for terrarium use.

Sandstone is an excellent southwestern decor choice for desert terrariums. These terrarium hardscape sets are composed of Arizona sandstone in shades of red, pink, buff, and near-white, with some varieties displaying layering. The rock is rough, it has simply been split along its bedding planes to create flat slabs of flagstone for landscaping and construction. The small leftover bits are easy to stack into rugged desert landscape features in a terrarium. 

Sandstone retains heat well so it can make a popular basking rock for reptiles. These sets include a variety of shapes and sizes, and it is relatively easy (albeit unpredictable) to split pieces with a hammer and chisel if they are too large for your needs. 

I also use flagstone to create a multilayered look on plant shelves. It is a porous rock that soaks up water, so it works well as a 'coaster' absorbing small amounts of run-off. This porosity means sandstone will wick up moisture and become water-logged if used in a terrarium with higher moisture levels, so keep it on a dry surface if you want to avoid this.
