Armadillidium maculatum "Chocolate Zebra" Isopod
Armadillidium maculatum "Chocolate Zebra" Isopod
The "Chocolate Zebra" morph of armadillidium maculatum is brown with white stripes. The brown is a lovely mix of shades ranging from dark chocolate to a light caramel color. This isopod variety is fairly bold and friendly, and a good option for people who want to see their isopods out and about more frequently. Zebra varieties are commonly recommended as clean-up crews in bioactive terrariums, and are less likely to be eaten by their tank-mates due to their especially hard exoskeleton.
Like other zebras, chocolates reproduce quickly and are hardy to a range of conditions. The prefer lower humidity but seemed unbothered by wetter conditions; just use caution as sustained higher humidity may cause problems with molts.
