Veggies are an important part of a healthy diet for both you and your bugs. You can feed your pods clean vegetable scraps from your kitchen—they will eat just about anything! Dried vegetables are a great non-perishable alternative you can always have on hand. The options available are veggies popular with isopods: kale, green beans, and a mix of fall roots and vegetables.
The Fall Colors mix contains equal parts dried beet, carrot, pumpkin, sweet potato, and kale, all rich in vitamins. Sweet potato, pumpkin, and carrot are also high in protein. The mix was designed to include foods that are commonly reputed as enhancing the natural coloration of your isopods. I don't how scientific those claims all are but isopods certainly do take on the coloration of their food: lighter-colored varieties like Glacier and Shiro Utsuri will turn pink after a snack like beet! Isopod varieties with translucency will show a stripe of color of their poot shoots.
These samplers are designed for a beginner or someone without many isopods. If you only have one or two cultures, they will last you a long time. If you have—or plan to have—a lot of isopods, don't waste your time here. You can find any of these in bulk volumes as human foods, just avoid human 'snack' dried veggies that are oiled and salted! Don't want to buy five different veggies just to see if your bugs will eat it and change color? Yeah I know a guy who can get you some.
