Genus Philodendron
Species hastatum
Common name(s) Silver Sword
"Silver sword" is a lovely smaller-scale philodendron with slightly iridescent silver coloration to the green leaves. It isn't the fastest grower for a philodendron; in my experience the plant puts on length quickly but is slow to fill in with branches. Trimming stems can encourage forking. But the plant seems to like shooting to the top of the terrarium, pressing its new leaves against the lights at the top and burning them (cutting those back is where most of these cuttings originate from). Take that as a hint that this is a light-hungry plant! It will thrive in bright indirect light; pale yellowing leaves are a hint it's not getting enough sun. (Our background model is a brown anole)
