Porcellionides pruinosus "Orange Cream" Isopod
Porcellionides pruinosis "Orange Cream" are an easy beginner's option for people nervous about getting started with isopods. They are hardy to a range of conditions and condition changes so they aren't going to drop dead the moment your enclosure gets a bit too dry or wet. This makes them pretty forgiving for new keepers who are trying to learn how to maintain a steady humidity for their isopod enclosures.
I also find this to be one of the more active varieties, zooming around their enclosure, exploring objects, and quick to congregate around food. Their activity level makes it easier to keep an eye on how they are doing. It also makes them hard to photograph because they will not stop moving.
This is a fast-reproducing type that is protein-hungry, so provide plenty of leaf litter and supplement their diet regularly with protein treats. Orange Cream's fast reproduction and softer exoskeleton (compared to many Armadillidiums) mean Porcellionides is one of the better feeder varieties.
